'The historic buildings of Kings Ely'

'Abstract: The historic buildings of Kings Ely
The King's School Ely is the direct successor to the monastic school and was established by King Henry 8th following the dissolution of the Abbey of Ely in 1539.
Having always been accommodated in the monastic buildings the massive growth of the school over the last century and a half has led to it now being the occupier of many of the former monastic buildings and other historic buildings of Ely. Amongst them are the Queens Hall, which is now the Principal's House and Mr Attwater's home; the Gallery Range; the Porta; the Monastic Barn; the Bishop's Palace and the buildings of Ely Theological College. We will hear how these buildings have been adapted to their current uses, the challenges of maintaining them and how signs of their original use can be seen today.
